Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.

Analytics

We utilize Google Analytics to process and collect your personal date (cookies and IP address) to understand how you use our website so we can improve its design and functionality. We also need the data to get the most out of our marketing campaigns. You can view their privacy policy here.

Data Sharing

We will not sell or otherwise provide the information we collect to outside third parties for the purpose of direct or indirect mass email marketing.

We do share information with third parties who help us provide our orders and store services to you. Below are some examples of the ways we utilize third parties.

We accept payments through Stripe and PayPal. When processing payments, some of your data will be passed to the respective third party, including information required to process or support the payment, such as the purchase total and billing information. Please view the Stripe Privacy Policy and PayPal Privacy Policy for more details.

When shopping on our site, Mailchimp may keep a record of your email and the cart contents for up to 30 days on their server. This record is kept to repopulate the contents of your cart if you switch devices or needed to come back another day. Read their privacy policy here.

When you place an order, we pass information related to your order and shipping such as city and zipcodes to Shipstation. You can view their privacy policy here.

Retaining Data

We generally store information about you for as long as we need the information for the purposes for which we collect and use it, and we are not legally required to continue to keep it. For example, we will store order information for 7 years for tax and accounting purposes. This includes your name, email address and billing and shipping addresses.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

If we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information.
