Since we have been unable to hold our monthly cleanups due to safety restrictions, co-owners Ryan and Christy conducted two underwater cleanups at Nudi Wear’s adopted dive site, Point Panic. On April 24th, they removed approximately 36 lbs of garbage and on April 29th, they returned and removed another 41 lbs. The garbage mostly consisted of cans, bottles, miscellaneous plastics, fishing line, and lead weights. A fishing pole and several long metal pipes were also removed.
We have also been offering several online conservation courses while restrictions are in place. We had students attend from countries across the world. As 100% AWARE partners, a donation has been made to Project AWARE for each student who completed a course. This not only helps educate divers about ocean conservation but also supports Project AWARE’s mission to mobilize the world’s divers into a global force to protect the ocean one dive at a time.
