On Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, the Nudi Wear team had the privilege of participating in the 12th Annual Oahu Dive for Life, an incredible event dedicated to raising funds for the American Cancer Society. This year, it was held at our PADI Aware Adopt-the-Blue dive site, Point Panic, on the South Shore of Oahu. The day brought together a community of passionate divers and volunteers, all with a shared goal: to fight cancer, raise awareness, and make a positive impact in the world.

In total, seven teams of volunteers, including approximately 50 scuba divers, took to the water for a memorable day of diving, storytelling, and camaraderie. Exciting prizes from 16 generous local sponsors were raffled off to help raise additional funds. Prizes included wetsuits, gift cards, artwork from local photographers, free diving with local dive shops, and more. Together, we raised an impressive $10,526 towards cancer research and the fight against cancer! From local businesses to diving enthusiasts, the support was overwhelming, and we couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who contributed to this amazing cause.

This year, in addition to raising money for cancer, we also hosted a cleanup at the event by providing the necessary tools and briefing for anyone who wanted to participate. While the water was calm, we encountered limited visibility due to earlier storms, making the cleanup a bit more challenging. However, that didn’t stop our determined Nudi Dive Club volunteers from making a huge difference. Together, we removed an impressive 156 pounds of trash from the water, which included a mix of discarded fishing gear, aluminum cans, glass bottles, and single-use plastics. One of the most unique items found during the cleanup? A red stiletto high heel! Despite the challenges of limited visibility, our team worked hard to make sure we left the site cleaner and safer for future divers and marine life.

The 12th annual Oahu Dive for Life was a huge success, but we know we can do even more in the years to come. With every dive, every donation, and every bit of awareness shared, we are making progress. We look forward to seeing this event grow every year as we continue to raise more money for cancer research and spread awareness about the importance of supporting the American Cancer Society.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this event possible: from the volunteers who gave their time to the sponsors who donated incredible prizes. Your support is what makes Oahu Dive for Life such a special and impactful event. To all the divers who joined us and represented the Nudi Dive Club, we couldn’t have done it without you. Your efforts are truly appreciated, and we look forward to diving with you again soon.
