We had an great turnout for our May 17th cleanup at Point Panic! Big mahalo to everyone who showed up—both in and out of the water—to help protect this beautiful spot.

While our team of scuba divers and freedivers took to the ocean, our land crew got busy clearing debris from the rocks along the shoreline. Several large bags of trash were collected before it could ever make its way into the water.

Conditions were a little rough, with some surge for the freedivers to push through, but that didn’t stop them from collecting lots of fishing line and lead weights. After a little over an hour underwater, our scuba divers started coming back with bags full of debris. Thankfully, our shore team was ready to help haul the heavy loads and gear out of the water and up the stairs.

All together, we removed 116 pounds of trash from the ocean and shoreline! We found a lot of the usual items this time, including sunglasses, hats, clothing,  plastic bottles, aluminum cans, single use plastics, and derelict fishing gear.

Mahalo again to everyone who showed up and put in the work—we couldn’t do it without you. Can’t wait to see you at the next cleanup on June 28th!
